Every Single Broken Piece by Michelle Heard
For this book I gave it 4.5 stars out of 5. Now when it comes to contemporary romance my standards are very low, as long as I'm amused the whole way through the story it's gonna be a 5-star read. With my fantasy and dystopian books I critique it differently cause that's my favorite genre. Also all of the contemporary romance books I read are through Kindle Unlimited.
Now to get into this story, without really giving anything away because I definitely recommend you read this. The book starts with Kelcie who is just a normal girl in a small town, but her dad is the mayor of said town, and her mom owns a shop in said town as well, so Ms. girl comes from money. So obviously she lives with her parents and has a small business and has absolutely nothing else going on in her life which is actually goals. But anyways she's living this perfect life in this perfect town with a loving family and then one night they are all murdered besides her but she did almost die from the attack. and after all that she only has one living sibling left because he was not present when it happened. Then Ms. Kelcie is obviously very scared from said events.
So the story picks up a year later and she is still just a hot mess express with horrible anxiety, super dysfunctional, and then she gets a HOT neighbor. But her neighbor is a complete hermit who hates being touch by anyone but her... obviously. and basically, together they heal each other, because he also has his own issue. And so, they fall in love and everything great, but HOT neighbor has a secret and he also didn't show up in this small town by accident.....
Now for my personal review I'll talk about the things I really liked about this book. To start off I absolutely ate this book up and read it in one sitting. One thing about me is that I love a hurt/comfort book and this is that too the maxxx. When i was reading about when Kelcie and her family was attacked it actually hurt fr, it was so well written and conveyed, I really felt her sadness and completely understood it. And then there's the HOT neighbor, Levi, I also just liked how his character was written. He's also really damaged and it shows through with him not liking to be touched and also with him being so isolated that he doesn't really know how to interact or speak to people. Throughout the story they were both just very soft with each other, it was so nice. And with stories I really like drama and there was a good bit of it in this story, with the panic attacks, confronting their trauma, and vengeful characters, ect. It was just great 10/10 up until we started getting towards the end.
Now to the things I didn't really like, the first being how Kelcie was just Levi's perfect solution to his problem with being touched. It was just so fairytale to me, because he has these issue for a reason and to just think this random pretty woman was the outlier to all these issues was a bit ridiculous to but I moved pass that. My second issue with the story is that once you hit that 75% mark the story just gets to be very unrealistic, some characters do a complete 180. Like it really at times felt a little ridiculous to me. The way I see it, this book went from being this really good kinda deep emotional book, to being unrealistic kind of unserious, very mid contemporary romance book. But honestly that's kinda the reg for this genre in my eyes. So the book just went from being way above my expectation for 75% of the book and then the last 25 my expectation was lowed back down to where they usually are.
So thats my review, the book was still very good, and I highly recommend that you read it. And i might be reading it again in the near future. If you check it out let me know what you think!!!
